Visitors will experience the best of western hospitality at this small northern Wyoming town. But what many visitors didn’t know about Sheridan is that it’s one of the few places remaining where outdoor enthusiasts can truly enjoy a myriad of winter sports without running into more than an occasional moose or elk.
“We have had the best snow we’ve had in six years for the month of December, with 2-3’ snow base and most trails already groomed,” says Penny Becker. As Director of Sheridan Travel and Tourism, she ought to know.
Outdoor enthusiasts can snowmobile, cross-country ski, view wildlife, or snowshoe in the valley of the Little and Big Goose Creeks, also known as the Valley of the Bighorns. The majestic Bighorn Mountains set the scene for this winter wonderland, and offer visitors an unlimited array of trails and vast meadows in which to sharpen skills and enjoy the freedom of open space this corner of the West still provides.
