Roads West

Dan Tanna was a detective who wore wool jackets and a leather vest in 115 degree heat and he drove his car into his living room! Robert Urich, the star of the show, liked to say that the Hi Tech 1957 Thunderbird received more fan mail than he ever did. Even though he was probably exaggerating, it makes our memories brighter to think that he might have been right. While the Hi Tech Car Telephone did allow him to stay in contact with his Office, even a short length conversation had Tanna driving in ever decreasing circles since the area of Vegas that was considered photogenic was extremely small.

DSL, or digital subscriber line, is a form of broadband Internet technology, that has download speeds that span 128 Kbps (Kilobits per second) to 24,000 Kbps, depending on the level of service purchased by the customer and the particular DSL technology in use by the ISP (Internet service provider). The technology dates back to 1988, when engineers at Bellcore (formerly Bell Communications Research, Inc., now Tellcordia Technologies) developed a method of transmitting a digital signal along the unused frequency spectrum on the twisted pair cables that ran between the central office (in a phone company, the location that houses the equipment that connects phone calls) and customer locations.

Planter boxes are wonderful for giving form and emphasis to your garden. Many modern houses are frequently designed with built-in planters, and traditional houses have them at entranceways, on terraces, and beside garages. Planters come in a variety of durable materials for outdoors, such as concrete, wood, brick or stone.

According to al-Auda, the meaning of jihad is much broader than fighting with a sword. Appealing to Muslims throughout the world, he wrote: "We should not simplify this issue and narrow its meaning to a restricted military battle in one of the Islamic regions or even to an all-out war against the West, which is possible and predicted and we assume is arriving... Life as a whole is a battlefield. The weapons are not only the rifle, the bullet, the airplane, the tank, and the cannon. Not at all! Thinking is a weapon, the economy is a weapon, money is a weapon, water is a weapon, planning is a weapon, unity is a weapon, and so there are many types of weapons."

New Uranium Strike in Utah: Talk about lousy timing. In the summer of 1980, exploration manager Clancy Wendt, then working for Phillips Uranium, a subsidiary of the oil company, had three rigs and a crew drilling mile centers in Utah’s Thomas mountain range. They drilled between 60 and 70 holes, over every square mile, looking for altered versus unaltered rock to indicate uranium. One of those drill holes encountered 0.05% U3O8 over a 100-foot thickness at a depth of 900 feet. Shortly thereafter, Clancy Wendt was transferred to the company’s minerals division, Phillips drilled a few more holes, and oh, by the way, there had been an accident about 2,000 miles away near Middletown, Pennsylvania, at a place called Three Mile Island. Utilities stopped building reactors and the uranium exploration business came to a grinding halt.

Thailand Holidays: Thailand means “the land of the free”. It lies in the heart of Southeast Asia. It is one of the most beautiful places in the world and one can only experience the exotic beauty of the place when you get there. The fresh air kissing your face when you walk on the beach, the mouth watering dishes and the rush and madness in the market is something you will perhaps not get to see anywhere else.
